Fundraising is the process of collecting money and getting donations from different sources either from individuals, organizations, and businesses. The money raised from this process is utilized for several organizations or one can also help an individual through it. Fundraising includes several processes and techniques to provide guidance for the target audiences or the crowd that is interested to give donations. Fundraising is a good practice of helping the poor and needy people in our society. Funds that are been raised can be utilized for helping people who lost their homes or food in war, individuals that got no money for food, orphans, widow, and old age people who are left alone in this world by their loved ones.
COVID 19 has really destroyed the economy and caused so much harm to people around. We can easily look people around who lost their jobs due to this pandemic. One more example is the last heavy rainfall at Karachi that led people homeless. The rain destroyed the warehouses, temporary stalls that are set at roadsides and markets. We can also observe the massive rain of 27th August 2020 has broken the records and flooded many areas of Karachi.
EDHI FOUNDATION is working for humanity and their work is amazing. We can observe such an organization’s success in helping the needy by seeing results around us. Not only has this we can also see peopled volunteering in serving at their best for the cause of humanity. Abdul Sattar Edhi founded the Edhi foundation in 1951. From that time it is been serving humanity at every step. It is a non-profit organization that provides services in every aspect to the people. After the demise of Edhi Sb, it is currently leading by Faisal Edhi and Begum Bilques Edhi. Edhi foundation is renowned for its work for humanity. We trust it while submitting the funds to it that our funds are best utilizing at.
This part of the activity is hard for us but we manage tasks at our best. As we are well aware of the current situations of people around and their financial conditions. We all know that the COVID’19 pandemic has destroyed the conditions globally so it is a hard time nowadays. We are still in the recovery phase from it and need more time to get things on our side. Things are not as easy as it been visible, most of the people are still jobless, as we are also university students so we currently not got enough funds for this activity. COVID’19 is a barrier that led us totally to a lower level as the population not having food, funds, and their necessities yet so how can they help us. We still manage to get funds from the ones we are aware of their financial statuses. Most of the helping or peoples who volunteer themselves for fundraising have already spent large amounts on donation boxes, providing grocery to the needy, and helping the affected ones financially.
We used several mediums through which we are able to get enough funds. Our social circle that includes our friends, family members, WhatsApp groups, and Instagram news feed, and Facebook. Not only this we also discussed the scenario with our coworkers and neighbors. Even one of the members is able to get funds from his neighborhood. We have also designed a poster that we circulated in our circles and friends. That poster is also posted on social sites to ask for funds. After getting the responses, we started thinking on a wider perspective. We decided to donate funds from our side also. One of the members has donated her whole pocket money. A member of our group is able to collect funds from his family members and nearest neighbors. Even one of the fellow got appointed newly at a job so he donated also.
Our circle is highly responsive and helping so, we decided to run a campaign in every gathering that does not respond well.
The experience is good for learning and exploring new things. This experience is also good for realizing the conditions of people. People usually have dual-tone while seeking help in financial matters. They tend to be responsive while they need and when the times come for getting their hands on, they just move away. Fundraising is a responsible task, as one has to spend or hand over the collected amount wisely. It teaches us public dealing while we conduct the collection throughout our circle. People are good at helping but due to several reasons and financial conditions of them they refuse to give donations. We belong to such a society where youngsters have gotten great mindsets and they help with their most availability. We can observe the sincerity of the youth with their seriousness and time they give towards this good cause of funds raising. We can also see the social platforms and organizations working for the serving of humanity. Success cannot be measured in this case as the time span is very little to get more funds. Whenever we feel or we are, motivated for the cause of good and helping we should conduct this activity.
